Let’s
know some of the common facts about cats
Jumping Heights
We, all already know that cats
are too good at jumping. They can jump high than you imagine. They can jump up to
6 times their height. So that they were often on high places like the top
of roofs, fences and walls. They have very strong leg muscles which help them
to launch into the air.
Speedy Cats
Cats are faster than we thought.
They can pace up to around 45kmph (30mph). Hence, it is the average travel speed
of our vehicles. If all dogs and cats are included in the comparison, cats win
because they are faster than dogs.
Laziness Overloaded
Cats are very lazy, we usually see
them sleeping most of the time. On average, they sleep around 13 to 16 hours a
day. They spend 70 percentage (70%) of their life in sleep. Because of doing this,
they save energy. These energies are useful for hunting their food. House cats
don’t need to save energy by sleeping but it becomes their nature.
Biggest breed
The biggest domestic cat breed is
Maine Coon. This breed weighs up to around 9 kilograms (20 pounds) and
measures up to around 100 centimetres (40 inches) in length. They yow! And don’t
meow like normal cats. A cat name Barivel got the award of being the
longest domestic cat ever by the Guinness World Records. Barvial is 3 feet 11.2
inches (120 centimetres) from the head to the tail end.
Smallest breed
Oldest cat
Mostly, domestic cats live around
16 to 17 years. The cat name Creme Puff, Felis catus breed is
recorded as the oldest cat ever by the Guinness World Records. She lived for 38 years and 3 days ( August
3, 1967, to August 6, 2005). She was owned by Jake Perry of Austin, Texas, US. She
consumed dry cat chow supplemented with broccoli, eggs, turkey bacon, coffee
with cream, and "an eyedropper full of red wine" every two days,
according to Jake Perry. Perry asserted that the wine "circulated the
arteries" and that this diet had contributed to her longevity.
Toes of cats
Domestic
cats have 18 toes in total. They have 5 toes on each of their front paws and 4
toes on each of their back paws. Those cute little "fur feet" are
utilised for communication, determining the temperature and habitat, hunting,
and grooming. Kitty uses her paws to control her body temperature and as
crucial landing shock absorbers. The claws on a cat's paws can extend for
self-defence and hunting, and they are designed for climbing, jumping, walking,
and running.

If
we compare your age with your cats, they age faster. When a newborn kitty
completed one year, she is equal to 15 years of a human’s life. But in the second
year, she is equal to 9 years of a human’s life, which means 24 years old.
After that, she consistently ages 4 years of human life per year as shown in
the table above.
Cat as pet
Cats
as pets are easy to maintain compared with dogs. Across the world, the cat is one
of the most popular pet animals. There are approximately 500 million cats as
pets. In the UK, 51% of adults have cats as pets, according to PDSA. A cat can
bring friendship and unwavering love into your life. A feline companion may
also improve your heart health and lower your stress levels. Cat ownership may
be a very fulfilling experience.
Purring
Purring
means making love. A cat will often purr when it is satisfied and happy.
Usually, this happens when it is receiving a gentle stroke from its owner.
Their purr serves as a means of communication. Although some cats purr when hungry or under stress, purring is not necessarily a sign of
happiness.
